The first Meccano was invented in 1898 by Frank Hornby. Being a father of two boys, he conceived of a system of components with nuts and screws allowing his sons to construct a crane like those from the port of Liverpool that fascinated them so much.
Frank Hornby marketed his system as "Mechanics Made Easy" in 1901. The tradename MECCANO was registered in 1907 by French entrepeneurs.
In additon to this classical system that has made Meccano an internationally renowned reference, Meccano continuously innovates with other assembly systems using new technologies and materials for its toys.
Meccano focuses on security and conceives and manufactures its products exclusively in France.
